murvM. R. Sellars has been called the “Dennis Miller of Paganism” for his quick wit and humorously deadpan observations of life within the Pagan community and beyond. However, his humor is only one facet of his personality, as evidenced by the dark, unique thrillers he pens. That face has earned him another name—the “Pagan Tony Hillerman.” Even with all these comparative monikers, he still likes to think of himself as just another writer trying to eke out a living doing a job he loves.

An honorary elder of Mystic Moon, a teaching coven based in Kansas City, and an elder of The Grove of the Old Ways, Sellars is actually for the most part a solitary practitioner of an eclectic mix of Pagan paths, and has been since the late seventies. He currently resides in the Midwest with his wife, daughter, and a host of rescued felines. His schedule never seems to slow down and when not writing, researching a project, or taking time to spend with his family, he can be found on the road performing workshops and book signings nationwide.

All of the current Rowan Gant novels have spent several consecutive weeks on numerous bookstore bestseller lists. The Law Of Three, book #4 in the saga, received the St. Louis Riverfront Times People's Choice Award soon after its debut.

Sellars is working on several projects, as well as traveling on promotional tour. All Acts Of Pleasure, the seventh book in the RGI series, (second book in the much touted MIRANDA TRILOGY), was released October 31, 2006. The End Of Desire, book three of the MIRANDA TRILOGY and the eighth book in the series overall, was released October 2007.

Ms. Morrison and Mr. Sellars will combine forces to offer these workshops:

MAGIC, SPELLS& ETHICS, OH MY! [AKA What Shall We Do With Uncle Fred?]

A discussion of do's and don'ts for the Magickal Realm. How much defense is too much? Too little? At what point does it become offense? What if I'm just trying to help? This workshop explores generally accepted as well as personal ethics as they apply to the use of Magickal processes. One note of caution—this workshop is an exercise in debate. No win scenarios are presented in order to stimulate serious thought, and in the end, send everyone in search of aspirin to quell their headaches

MAGIC DOWN & DIRTY: NO FLUFF, NO SPARKLE, JUST RESULTS

Have you done all you can do in the mundane realm to resolve a situation? Have you had "all you can stand, and can't stand no more"? Maybe it's time to level the playing field just a bit, and Magic can be your equalizer. If you're prepared to "own your stuff," then this is the workshop for you! (NOTE: The subtitle No Fluff, No Sparkle, Just Results is serious. This workshop may offend those who believe the world is all goodness and light.)

WINNERS, WHINERS & WINGNUTS

We've all dealt with whiners and wingnuts - and maybe we, ourselves, have even fallen into those categories at one time or another. But what does it take to be a winner - a real winner - one of those people who draws success like nails to a magnet? More importantly, though, how do we accomplish that and still adhere to a personal, spiritual, and magical sense of ethics? If you've ever asked yourself these questions - or find yourself spinning your wheels while accomplishing little - you won't want to miss this seminar! Regardless of your situation, you'll walk away with a game plan, and a whole new lease on life. Guaranteed!

Ascension Magick Workshop

This is a system of magickal practice for spiritual evolution, drawing from the wisdom of both traditional western magick, Qabalah, Wicca and shamanism and the traditions of Theosophy, lightwork and eastern spirituality. Together in this evening lecture we explore the truths common to many of the world's religions and magickal systems, and find the symbols and traditions that work for us on our personal path in the next aeon. Learn the meaning and origins of esoteric terms and traditions found in much of our modern metaphysical spirituality. Ascension Magick emphasizes a true partnership between those of us incarnated on Earth and those of our allies working in the spiritual realms to manifest a sustainable harmony here on Earth.

Shamanic Witchcraft: Walking Between the Worlds

Join author Christopher Penczak in a hands on exploration of  the role of the witch and the shaman in tradition and modern culture. Both are  walkers between the worlds, seers of spirits, medicine workers and community  healers. Survey the history of European witchcraft, and how it's practices echo  those of native shamans, including the use of flying ointments, familiars,  crossing the hedge, faery roads and the misconceptions of the Witch's Sabbat as  recorded by the witch trail inquisitors. Discuss modern core shamanic techniques  and how they apply to contemporary witchcraft. Through drumming journey, unlock  your power to explore the other worlds, to not only walk the crossroads of the  witch, but eventually become the crossroads, an agent of magick and change in  the world.

joyce and riverJoyce and River Higginbotham live in Missouri, where they are active in teaching and networking on both the local and national level. They are frequently interviewed about Paganism for television, radio, newspapers and magazines. They appear as guest speakers at universities, high schools, and Christian churches.

Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS) has adopted their introductory book as a text for an adult religious education course on earth religions. Several universities use their writings as text or required reading for both graduate and undergraduate religious studies classes.

They helped found the Council for Alternative Spiritual Traditions (CAST), which hosted public Pagan events in the Midwest, including the region’s largest free festival, the St. Louis Pagan Picnic. The Picnic continues to attract more than 2,000 each year. They are annual participants in Diana’s Grove Mystery School, a program for spiritual, personal and leadership development.

Joyce and River are the authors of Paganism: An Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions, and Pagan Spirituality: A Guide to Personal Transformation, both published by Llewellyn.

Joyce and River will be facilitating these workshops at PUF for your educations:

Start your day with a blended form of meditation you won’t find anywhere else. This is a sung meditation in the style of Gregorian chant that uses interfaith and earth-centered texts. Learn a four-line chant based on Gregorian modes and sing beautiful readings drawn from a variety of faith traditions, interspersed with moments of silence. The meditation ends with an opportunity for you to share your thoughts and insights.

Where Are You on the God Map?

Check out the range of human beliefs about the divine over the centuries, from the transcendent to the immanent, and the concrete to the abstract. Discuss how descriptions of experiences end up becoming statements about what the divine is and isn’t. Explore the range of Pagan views of deity and the divine and why diversity of beliefs is accepted within Paganism. Discuss and share the places on the God Map you have visited or currently occupy.

The Magickal Labyrinth

In our teaching we divide magick into four aspects as a useful tool for learning and skill development. These aspects are Communing, Energy Work, Divination, and Conscious Creation. Which of these is speaking to you at this time? In a guided meditation you will travel into the labyrinth of personal and spiritual growth and encounter the magickal essence you need right now. There you will be given both a gift and a challenge to inspire you this year. After the meditation will be time to share and draw a symbol or picture of your experience, which will be placed on an altar and empowered in a brief ritual.
